Porsche Pre-Purchase Inspection: What It Covers, What It Costs, Do You Need One?

The short answer: yes, you need a Porsche pre-purchase inspection on any used Porsche. A good one costs a few hundred pounds and can save you thousands.

What does a Porsche pre-purchase inspection cover?

  • A borescope check of the cylinders and an engine health check.
  • A DME over-rev report on manual cars.
  • IMS bearing and clutch history on M96 and M97 cars.
  • Body, paint depth, underside, suspension, brakes and tyres.
  • History file, MOT history and HPI check.

How much does it cost in the UK?

Typically around £250 to £500 at an independent Porsche specialist, more with a borescope.

Do I need to be there?

It helps, but no. A good inspector sends photos, video and a written report.

Can 2911 help?
